THE NEXT CHAPTER:
NEW LIFE CITY CHURCH
In 2001, Pastor Benny Ho was invited to take on the role of a supervisory pastor.
Notable changes following his appointment included the re-naming
of Genesis Fellowship as 'New Life City Church', the establishment of the youth ministry Joshua-Life, more fondly known by its moniker 'J-Life'. and
the induction of the church into the Australian Asian Churches Network.
"NEW LIFE CITY CHURCH"
AS WE KNOW IT
The need for a full-time pastor became evident in due course. Thus, in September 2002, the church welcomed its first full-time pastor, Pastor Yat Wan Eu, his wife Angelina together with their three children. The church continued to grow from strength to strength under his leadership, with new ministries such as the young working adults group and a clear emphasis on overseas missions. The church despatched its first of many overseas mission teams in 2004 to Thailand.
After years of passionate lay service, in 2008, the church welcomed its first Youth Pastor, Jason Tan and his wife Sally.
OUR HOME AT
329 ORRONG ROAD
The church had been meeting weekly at the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre since its inception and began praying for a property of its own.
Then, in early 2009, the property at 329 Orrong Road, Kewdale first came up for sale, the initial offer by the church through its Building Committee was rejected and the prospect dimmed. Six months later, however, the property remained unsold. Through an inspirational and divine development of events and the sacrificial finances of its congregation, the church successfully acquired the property.
NLCC held its inaugural Sunday worship service on 13 December 2009, and moved in officially on 14 February 2010.
Over the years, the property has been developed in various ways to meet the growing needs of the church, most recently the re-development of the entire front of the building to create a large open foyer with built-in classrooms. Almost all work has been undertaken by volunteers from its own congregation.
